Literary madness ensues once again next Sunday, November 12th. Come out and celebrate the 1 year anniversary of The Bodega Bruise revival and say fuck you to fascists as we raffle off some cool prizes to raise funds for activist artists in Mexico&Puerto Rico.

Alabaster
My only word for you and one
derived from my imagination
Because I can’t tell you what alabaster is exactly
Without looking it up
I think it’s a rock
Semi precious perhaps but the kind people drive over
When they’re in a hurry
Or not paying attention
Or oftentimes, both
I get nervous when it starts getting colder
Even though I prefer winter
The hardest part
Of being alone
Is found in dusk at 5pm
In a city, a ruin
Void of alabaster
And all other colorfully named rocks
They are just rocks here
And maybe that’s why
I always come back.

I made this smoke drawing turned painting for my friend Michael Breach who is a coffee artist. He wanted to buy an original so I made this one just for him! It was really fun to make a piece for someone in particular and even better that he loved it! Thus, I’m inspired to offer 18×24″ custom pieces (based on what I know about you or what you tell me if I don’t know you) for only $100, includes a frame!

A revival of The Bodega Monthly at Bodega Wine Bar, now called The Bodega Bruise Storytelling Show! because The Bodega acquired a liquor license, so you might get on a bicycle and fall right off again, hence the bruises, and the bar’s name has changed to Idlewild – however the cool crowd, bartenders and cooks, and inclusive vibe are all the same!
The Bodega Bruise takes place every Second Sunday at Idlewild: 24 St. Nicholas Ave, Bushwick Brooklyn at 8pm. Please call/text me directly if we know each other or email: bodegabruise@gmail.com to get on the next line up. 5-7 minutes, anything performative/literary goes except baseless hatred, which will be thrown out (and probably be punched in the face) if it ever sneaks onto the stage.
Also, you don’t have to perform to see the show! Come get bruised with us in this growing community of very funny, poignant, and talented storytellers and short fiction/poetry writers. It’s Literary Madness. Live and Uncut. Noncompetitive and Always Free!
